Senior Instrument Technician

The City of Vallejo is seeking to fill their Senior Instrument Technician position, as a collaborative member of the City's Water Department.

The ideal Senior Instrument Technician will have extensive background in Industrial Electrical and Control Systems. Incumbents will need to have experience performing maintenance/repair in large pumping plants and raw water distribution systems / water treatment plants. Additionally, incumbents will need to have experience testing low / high voltage electrical equipment, interpreting diagrams / schematics, perform work according to drawings, knowledge operational methods associated with the water treatment process and familiar with use of variety of specialized electrical test equipment. The incumbent selected for the position of Senior Instrument Technician is expected to be placed on the Department's on-call rotation and to respond to after hours service needs all hours of the day and night, including weekends and holidays.

While not required, possession of a California Department of Public Health Distribution Operator D3 License, a California Department of Health Water Treatment Operator T2 License, and a California Water Environment Association Electrical Instruments Technician Grade II Certification is highly desirable.

Experience:
Two years of journey-level experience in instrument repair work at a level equivalent to the City's class of Instrument Technician.

Training:
Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade; two years technical school or college-level course work in a related field.

License or Certificate:
Must possess a California driver's license and have a satisfactory driving record.

Possession of a California Department of Public Health Distribution Operator D1 certification within twenty-four (24) months of employment.

Although not required, possession of a California Department of Public Health Distribution Operator D3 License, a California Department of Health Services Water Treatment Operator T2 License, and a California Water Environment Association Electrical Instruments Technician Grade II Certification is highly desirable.
